Were in a pretty big bind this year and had to ask friends and family for help to get school supplies. We will be able to get everything on the list thanks to everyone that helped. But mid year is when teachers start to struggle so since my husband will be in a good paying job making paychecks by then, well send some extras at that point. I think its messed up that supplies arent provided and students and teachers have to provide them. We should be doing better as a society and value our kids education. But im in Texas in a completely red area and its rough out here.

same. but im also a lunch lady and a school janitor. the amount of kids I see that dont have things they need makes me so sad. this will be year 2 I do this. the day before school I leave bags full off goodies in school office. I dont tell anyone its me. but im pretty sure they know. I mean there are cameras and im usually the only one ever there alone 😅😂🤣😂

I always tried to give extra. and at the end of the year when they were in elementary I'd give them supply cakes for the next year.

at the end of the year, my daughter brought home like 6 workbooks, none hard any writing in them. They're lying about funding for schools 😔

If they're that pressed why don't they contact the local legislators? 🤨🤨🤨 Sounds like they just want to argue so why not argue with the correct people?

My wife and I want to thank you for being that type of teacher. Many times we could not afford our sons school supplies. And we had a few teachers who had extras and helped out.

i gave my sons 5th grade teacher a gift card to walmart for more supplies, but i wasnt the only parent to. my son goes to a super tiny district. even at a bugger district. teachers shoild not have tonspend their own paychecks to buy more supplies. they dont make enough to do that all the time

as a kid like you, thank you. my mom didn't eat so we could have school supplies. My school clothes were goodwill, or homemade. I liked the homemade stuff.

Thank you. As one of those parents who can’t afford supplies. I’m having to chose between keeping the lights on and food. I’m about to lose everything because they don’t care about disabled children and I’m supposed to keep my family afloat off of 943 a month. I can’t work bc of my kid and they don’t care. I hate it here, but I’m thankful there are people like you out there!

Love that! We try to do the same thing every year—buy at least three extra sets of school supplies so we can help out other kids who might need them. I also keep my office fully stocked with all the basics: folders, pencils, markers, crayons, and snacks. You never know when a student might need something, and I always want them to feel supported and cared for without having to ask. It’s such a small gesture that can make a big difference.
