@savedbyarescue: On our mutual day off (yep, just one day/week), Jake and I try to do as much as we can together with the dogs. Today, we took Appa and Aang on an sniffari in a park close to our house. When we got back, it was time for the seniors to stretch their legs a bit. Loki was determined to go out the front door on a short walk, so we did. He was hopping like a champ on his back left leg! So proud of him! Its been 20 days since he lost the use of his back legs. His improvement has been remarkable, and not at all what we expected. I am beyond grateful for Loki fighting so hard to regain some mobility and fighting through this. I'm not going to lie, when Loki first went down and had no bladder or bowel control, I seriously considered putting him down. I questioned his quality of life. The last thing I want to do is to make him suffer for my own selfish desire to keep him with me as long as possible. But, Loki showed that he wanted to fight, and I trusted his intuition like I had for so many years when he was working as my service dog. He has never failed me, and I wasn't about to fail him.
