Years ago, a physician explained it like this: “If I give you an antibiotic, I know exactly what it will do. 1 + 1 = 2. If I give you birth control, 1 + 1 = purple. Or the letter C. I have no way to predict hormones.” … and she saved my life. She tried all the things until my brain chemistry & cycle were right *for me*

it's natural for people with diabetes, severe food allergies, cancer, etc. to just die. that's what used to happen. do these people think it would be better if that happened instead of them getting "unnatural" drugs or medical treatments that didn't exist before modern medicine?

there are studies out there that show ADHD symptoms are significantly worse the closer one is to their period. I've been on patches, skipping almost every period I can. I can literally focus so much more.

I mean there are also people with terrible headaches all the time for no particular reason, it just naturally happens to them. By that logic they should just endure the pain instead of taking unnatural painkillers

Genuine question: I was recently prescribed hormonal birth control to alleviate UNBEARABLE PMDD and periods that had me losing so much blood. I don’t like the idea of being on the pills long term because of side effects that had me get off of it before having my kids. What other options do I have that don’t involve going into early menopause?

6 years ago after I had my daughter I was asked what BC I wanted to go on. I was in my mid 30s and hoped to have a 2nd so I declined. After suffering with perimenopause symptoms for like 2 years I begrudgingly went back on BC about 7 months ago and it was the best decision ever. I finally feel like myself again after such a long time. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.

Well said. I had the easiest of my sisters. They were all in horrible pain for a few days a month. I had 7-9 days every month I wasn’t on birth control.

Ya, I cannot function when I have menstrual cramps. I cannot take that much time off of work. My IUD is a lifesaver.

Saying that the natural process should be favoured is insane bc by that logic, cancer or other diseases can also come naturally… and therefore should be left alone? The moment we push medicine away from one thing, medicine will be harder to access for other ailments too.

I've had a period last more than 6 months and gone months without one. Had cysts rupture and miserable cramps. Nature is not kind, it doesn't care if I'm miserable. Medicine created medications so I don't have to go through that. With an IUD I haven't had to deal with a period in over 4 years.

I always had heavy periods, and as a teacher, it’s hard to get to a bathroom when you suddenly “flood”. I am much happier not having a period. Even if they weren’t awful, I’d opt to not have one because there isn’t a need unless you’re trying to have a baby.

It used to be a natural process for women to 💀 in childbirth, Teresa. Natural doesn’t equate safe or healthy.
