Petrol? Diesel? 4 cil? 6 cil? 8 cil? You talk about the most reliable BMWs but you are talking about the bmw car engine, but you don't mention the type of engine only the bmw models👍

Sold my E39 525i with just over 200k on the clock a few years back and bought an E61 525i which now has a 166k on the clock. BMW 6 cylinder petrol engines are absolutely bulletproof.

Just buy a BMW X1 diesel with the N47, never had an issue and have driven it 105’000 km, never had any problems

You are aware that its not the model that makes it un/reliable, but the engine…. Right? Apart from that, it’s also the service history. You’ll find alot of horror stories online about the n47 but my 1er has given me nothing but joy. Routine maintenance and proper servicing both by myself as well as the previous owners. Car’s at 140k miles, serviced at 6-7k mile intervals and only now has the timing chain started to rattle. Half arsed info if you ask me 😂

Don’t normally want to criticise unnecessarily put the E39 had vanos problems the E46. I broke so many of them due to head gasket problems E46 6 cylinder engines were good. But the facelift E46 so many had vonos problems as well
