@dr.ally: The black community is not a monolith. If we are to survive these next few years, we’ve got to understand that even though we are different, we can work together. But we have to acknowledge that there are differences. We do not all have the exact same story. ##monolith##polo##oakbluffs
I love when others can also just normalize black excellence. They think that all black people have a first generation come up story and it’s just not true. We’ve been doing well for so long.

I’m hopeful that this conversation will enable others to see the complex spectrum of black American experiences. I’m from the Deep South—my great, great grandfather owned lots of land in mid-late 1800s. My granddaddy owned vast holdings. Mom was sent to boarding school with children of Civil Rights leaders. Depending on the circles you move in, people just don’t talk about it because they just want to fly under the radar.

My Dad was a professor and his great friend is a Catholic Priest whose family had multiple properties on Martha’s Island. They invited us to come stay every summer which was very generous. We learned about the deep culture of MV, the native ancestry, the stolen land. As a low income white family with two professor parents we were blessed to be a part of the beauty and experience. Generation after generation of Black Families with deep ties to the land and a focus on academics and art as culture

we also have to remember that amongst all demographics there are variances, not all yt ppl have money and just as many collect welfare. again as said above the division and hate was created by our gov and as long as we keep falling for it the country will never prosper as it should

What an absolute fool this guy is. Money doesn’t buy good taste. And you can be well educated and have no taste.
