She chose to sacrifice people who cared for her to stay alive. She had a lot of chances to make real bonds, friendship & find love but she blew it every time for her own selfish reasons. She was never remorseful for what she did. As she herself said "Katherine Pierce is a survivor", but it was always done by pushing others to die in her stead.

she wasn't born a bad person. and it wasn't her life that made her bad. no, I stand firm on the fact that it was her own choice every time. she took so much of Klaus's behavior for herself, thinking it would be safer, but she didn't consider that Klaus had a family that accepted him for who he was, even the worst of monsters, while Katherine no longer had a family. she had pushed everyone away from her.
