AI art can’t make art without stealing, meaning, once humans stop making it, it can’t make anymore art either. Photoshop or computer art is not a an honest comparison. Better comparison is me watching you draw practice for years, loving your style, commissioning your work, not paying for it, then signing my name and displaying it as my own.

I love Guilhermo Del Toro, but this sort of retoric that has been perpetuated lately is a complete disrespect to the artist that ptogrammed the code that enabled the machines to create Art. The people who write the prompts are not the artists, but the programmers who coded that ability are and they need respect.

That feels a bit outdated to me, art has always evolved with new tools. A paintbrush, a camera, Photoshop, now AI… it’s all about the vision behind it, not the tool you use.

People say that AI steals art. If we look at it from the non-financial perspective, then everyone learning to create art also “steals” techniques from someone. You watching YouTube tutorials or looking at the painting of Mona Lisa and trying to sketch it yourself is stealing as well. You learning to create something by looking at the techniques and works of others is what’s called inspiration. That’s how you create your style, you combine what you learned, give yourself a prompt in your head, and try to develop something new. What’s wrong about taking that prompt and giving it to AI?

If even a single person finds any sort of meaning on anything that exists, then that thing is art. It really doesn't matter how it was made. People are entitled to not find value in something created by AI, but that's their problem. Art is in the eye of the beholder.

These narratives have always existed about technology and innovation. He’s saying app bc it’s what we see AI mostly in right now. But that won’t always be the case. We will eventually reach a time when AI will do our CGI. Which will also cut costs. Imagine how difficult it is to make changes to CGI now and how much it costs to make changes.

The purpose of art is that it’s human-made. The Mona Lisa wouldnt be in a museum if it wasn’t for an artist. Why have a cheap knock-off when you can have the original? Why cheat when you can learn?
