Black Americans absolutely have culture. It’s deep, expansive, and not a monolith. Just like Africa has many cultures, so do we. From the South to the North, Midwest to the West Coast, it varies. The media often only shows one version of Blackness, and that shapes how others, even some of us, see it. Some people grow up only seeing one expression of Black identity and never get exposed to anything outside of that. So when they see a different version of Blackness, they can’t always recognize it as valid because it doesn’t fit what they’ve always known. But our culture is one of the most innovative and influential in the world.

You are so right because we just hate own black community. I am black and agender femme and hate the way how we hate each other and put each other in a box. There is no wrong way to be black person.

Our culture is what makes us unique and special. Even if’s called “hood” “ghetto” “country” we have to embrace every part even if it’s not something you are 💚

The fact that we can’t identify one archetype as “Black” is why we do have culture. Culture is vast and varies from region to region. Sexy Red is just as much apart of Black culture as the Oak Bluff collection. It’s not a competition and they both exist at the same time and that’s okay. What isn’t okay is one side trying to put down the other in favor of what represents solely them and their experiences.

One thing being black isn’t is tearing each other down. Black womem hate when black men tear us down but we do it to each other. Why we can’t have unity? And another thing I noticed why do black women online hate biracial women? Why do y’all want them to be separated from us. Then it’s the light skin and dark skin stuff. Like its exhausting 😩

Y’all keep getting hip-hop culture, confused with black American culture. My grandma shared Black American culture with me, where I would spend the night at her house with all my cousins us playing games and having fun. Hip-hop culture is the thing that makes a lot of of you guys went to twerk, dance, and commit crimes all day. Hip-hop is a subculture in the black community that too many Black people participate in. Just like how the black church is a part of our culture and we have a subset of Black people that only act as if the black church is the main culture.

Sexxy Red and other people that cosplay are well known and have money. They can afford to rub elbows with people of a higher tax bracket. White people think they are amusing for entertainment but I bet you she would not be invited into a business meeting for big companies that will make them millions. They can’t help but assume we are all like that because people like Sexxy are planted in their spaces. You will never hear about a nurse being a single mother raising her children and making sure they become productive role models.

We do have culture but we also have a “crab in a bucket” mentality. Everybody love black American culture just not black Americans

Unpopular take, Black is a derogatory term. My take, all our labels.. African American, Afro American, Colored, Negro, Black.. were placed on one demographic that was stripped of a globally recognized heritage and land. Black is a catch all description that can be applied to anyone with melanin heavy enough to produce a brown complexion. Hence the phrase “person of color,” the very window former V.P.  Kamala Harris climbed through to claim Black culture. I could go on an 20 page rant about defining landmass’s (Europe, by definition, is not a continent) but I digress. We are Soulaani, Gullah, Creole, Cahokian, Maroons, Melungeons, Quinnipinian, & many other subcultures of the Americas. Every culture has its ugly parts (Sexy Redd) but most recognize her and those like her as plants meant to present and preserve an ugly image.. she represents an agenda not culture. Our culture was systematically destroyed and belittled then rebranded within other cultures.
