The funny thing is that russians stole the flag from the dutch. Russian tricolor was first used in 1696 under Tsar Peter the Great, who spent a lot of time in the Netherlands and was inspired by the Dutch architecture, maritime achievements, etc. He literally modeled the russian flag after the Dutch flag, only slightly changing the order of the three colours. Petersburgs canals are also modelled after Amsterdam 🙃
