By the way Aussies, White GLO toothpaste literally had an ad campaign earlier this year stating ‘Make The White Choice’. Not long after that disastrous Dove ad where the black eomwb is shown becoming ‘clean’ by turning white. We have racism and eugenics at home 😁

at BEST the ad is reminiscent of the Brooke Shields Calvin Klein ads from the 80's which were hyper sexual and weird even then (Sidney Sweeney isn't a minor but still). at worst it's a nod to eugenics, with blonde hair, blue eyes, and BT being praised as "good genes" the implication being other genes are inferior. bottom line it's icky.

I fully understand where y’all are coming from, but at the same time, isn’t it a bit far-fetched? I’m pretty sure it was meant to be a joke, not a good one, but a joke nonetheless. I just feel like people are reading too much into it, now, the ad was bad, sure - but still, there are worse things to worry about.

It’s an homage to the Brooke Sheilds ad from the 80’s. It’s not that deep. How crazy are people to think a company trying to make money is in anyway trying to do this ad for nefarious reasons. She’s a natural beauty and that is rare these days.

I work in advertising, I can confidently tell you, EVERY CAMPAIGN the brand the team behind dont just say things for fun. EVERYTHING WE SAY is carefully thought out and PLANNED. There are people in this industry, their job is pull out insights and find a way to communicate, to land on a messaging. The curtain is never just blue in advertising and marketing. 1 video that is less than a minute require us a min pf 3 months planning. Sometimes brand, put their commercial to a market test before it goes out public. There are MULTIPLE STAGES of approvals to get there especially for a company/brand this big. This isnt a blunder, this is intentional.
