Singapore did not build their foundations. They "Inherited" them. Inherited the modern port, administrative structure & access to the global markets. They were handed the infrastructure of the British Empire. Malaysia had to start build their economy step by step from farming to industrialisation. Singapore was always a service economy, a trading centre. Singaporean were given a jump start while Malaysian had to jump to start. The development paths were fundamentally different: one built on inherited structures, the other forged through ground-up effort and long-term national strategies.
