Exact reason I got rid of my platinum. Don’t really care about the added cost, but what’s the point in having it if I can’t use the benefits. Got the American Airlines premium card, never been turned away from an admirals club.

I’ve found that airport lounges in America are a joke. Everyone has credit card access. Priority pass outside of the US is rather nice though, particularly when traveling through major hubs in Asia. Rarely have to wait and the food/amenities are great!

There is always a wait for the centurion lounge and yes it’s a problem everywhere. Should see the one in LAX lol waitlist is insane always.

Though it’s crazy to wait that long, keep in mind the Lounge is filled with others who paid the same as you/have the same card. Amex is trying to address this by opening up some satellite lounges, can only enter 90 min before a flight. But I agree, often times not enough space. Hopefully with the newly increased AF, more lounge space will start to open up

The problem is that they turned their card into a coupon book with a net zero membership fee (once you take all the credits) and now everyone has the card. Also, their next card up is invitation only and cost $10k to get and $5k a year to hold. I’m hoping that they downgrade the Platinum card and bring out a Titanium card at $1.5k with zero coupons; then make the lounges open only to Titanium or Black card holders. Conversely, they could make the lounges contingent on $50k or $100k spend a year. Either way, I’d be happy.

We rarely use Amex lounge if our preferred lounges (within the US) aren’t available (American Airlines and United). Even though we’ve been using Amex platinum for decades, it’s not for the lounge, besides their lounge is so so so boring.

Not only that - I prefer to not be at the airport longer than necessary. I've probably successfully used a lounge twice and it was due to a massive delay so we had time for once. But yes... always packed it's crazy....

Ugh I went to a lounge at JFK that was FANTASTIC. It was a buddy’s card but zero wait. I’d be bummed if I were you.

As someone who travels internationally three times a month, I gave up trying to get into the Centurion Lounge. It’s always a mess. We ended up getting an airline specific lounge, annual membership instead. It cost about the same as AMEX P, but it’s absolutely worth it we never have issues getting in.

Yeah, they’ve given too much access to the lounges to where it doesn’t make it worth the value anymore and even though they’ve tried to cut it back, it still gets crazy. My airport is the same way almost all the time.

The only Amex lounges that I find truly worth it are the ones in Mexico City. If you have the platinum, you don’t pay a dime, it’s a sit down restaurant with the highest level cuisine. It’s simply outstanding. The other ones tho, not worth it at all

I have American, Delta and Centurion lounge access. Prefer American. While it’s often not quite as nice, it’s nice enough, and I never have to wait.
