I feel you. Like I'm in a different Pentecostal apostolic organization. Everytime I fellowship with a UPCI church (they all have mega churches) I feel like I have to wear a long sleeves dress and can't wear my makeup bc they don't allow that. They are very strict likeee strict strict. But like that's fine I just let them know yeah I got the holy Ghost and my pastor allows, pants, makeup, jewelry and nails. But yeah I want to but ion want nb staring at me or tryna come and call themselves preaching about makeup and stuff.

Can I just say as a pastors wife: You don’t have to look traditional Pentecostal to carry the fire. Holiness isn’t just in the look — it’s in the life. You might not look traditional Pentecostal, but that doesn’t mean you’re not walking in it. It’s not the outfit that makes you Pentecostal — it’s the anointing.

What makes you think you don’t “look traditional”. As long as you are upholding the standards set forth by YOUR Pastor that’s all that matters. If you’re new to church, you’ll get there. God will make any changes He see fit.

Now imagine not being Apostolic, but also a hs filled believer. We’re still filled even if we don’t wear skirts 24/7. I just made a video about something similar as I got dressed to visit an UCPI church for the first time. I talked about dressing a particular way b/c of their culture. All through the comments, sweet Apostolics were encouraging me to come dressed however I’d usually dress, but followed that with a statement like: “God changes from the inside out.” That’s sweet but it’s insinuating that one isn’t filled if they don’t dress like them. Idk if that makes sense but that’s the problem.

Making changes now based on recent personal convictions. But I was filled with the Holy Ghost in the back row of my Apostolic Pentecostal church. I was wearing a dress shirt and jeans with tall boots. I didn’t look “traditional Pentecostal” at all when that happened. Matter of fact I had on makeup also. I no longer wear makeup, again off of personal conviction. Before anyone starts screaming legalism, here is the best line I heard recently in response to a question of if you have to change your clothes: “you don’t have to change anything, if God leads you to you should”

Why are they judging based on your outward appearance? Salvation is a personal experience and only God can judge/convict/change (if need be?) I’m Apostolic. I’m judged for others reasons. You do you! You know your relationship with Him!

As an Apostolic, this is only out of love because we want to help everyone come to Jesus. However it can become annoying I could see if everyone comes up to you all the time asking if you have the Holy Ghost. I go to a church with a Bible college so sometimes even I, growing up in church, get asked how long I’ve been going to my home church.

I’ve been strict apostolic, UPC style and now I’m PAW apostolic but my hair is cut, I wear jewelry every once in a while & wear pants. It is NOT what you wear that makes you Apostolic. It is repentance, being filled with the HG & baptized in Jesus name. Overlook the h8rs. They will have a huge awakening. 🩷🩷

I am the same way. I don't look Apostolic untill you see me pray. Then you can see my anointing. Because it is not in the UPCI legalistic rules and regulations. Baptized in Jesus name, baptized in the fire of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

Grew up UPCI. Now I’m a part of PAW church. Both have annointed people.I’ve been able to experience the powerful move of God in my new church. My new church doesn’t follow the UPCI standards. I’ve now leaned that just because someone doesn’t look like a traditional apostolic it doesn’t mean they do not or can not be anointed. I have found a new freedom in my relationship with God. I have a new deeper relationship with him. But I’m sure some people think I backslid bc I wear pants, cut my hair and wear jewelry…. But if they only knew❤️.

we were taught if you don't confirm "fully" then you weren't working under the direction of the Holy Ghost, the only "evidence" we have to "achieve" is speaking in tongues, if someone decides you don't have the holy Ghost based on how you look then they are in the wrong❤️❤️❤️

I do not look the traditional apostolic. I am 100% apostolic. I think the word apostolic overtime has lost its meaning. apostolic means we follow and believe the apostles doctrine. Jesus still heals. Jesus still performs miracles. Devils can still be cast out.

Yes I’ve been upc my whole entire life and now a pastors wife. I’ve moved to Michigan and found I don’t fit the “traditional” upc women mold here 😂 but I do back home. Moral of the story I’ve been on both ends of the spectrum continue to be true to yourself💕 he didn’t make us to fit into the mold of the upc or any other organization but, to become more like him❤️

sis. I grew up in UPCI and it's been a stumbling block to my relationship with God. yes, the denomination is filled with spirit and truth but they are also just that... a denomination. I would never say rebel or go against any conviction God has given to a sibling, and it's so hard for me to find a church (and I will not go somewhere that doesn't teach Acts 2:38). then there's judgement if I don't LOOK Pentecostal so I can't serve or minister or even bare fruit and that's just not biblical nor a reflection of the HS in me. I refused to have the HS be grieved in me so I'm taking a break from the 4wall church,but my heart breaks. I want community and truth so badly but I am rejoicing of all the souls who layed their life for Jesus this past week seeing at NAYC. God will steady you Sis. you got this!

Definitely not just you sis. I didn’t grow up in this. I have a couple of tattoos in visible places and everytime I’m at a rally or conference someone is trying to pray me through. One time I had my tattoos out at a rally and I kid you not a girl came up to me while I was praying for my students salvation and family. And said “I know you want to go back to the world but god says hold on, don’t let go of my truth. god you know she wants to turn back but keep her focused on you” safe to say I cover them when I’m not in my church 😂😂😂

This is where legalism becomes an issue. Modesty is key. but if anyone is simply looking for a certain look are, they even trying the spirit by the spirit. When we meet the holyghost inside us should leap, to let us know we are within the body of Christ. There should be a glow about you that radiants from heaven within. Immitating a certain “look” to be deemed holy, is leading people astray, when their hearts are far free Christ.
