Have you ever thought about framing a picture with a note written under it that you will visit him later today, so he’s not worried all morning thinking you abandoned him? Not sure if that would work, but I’ve seen some families do it for members with dementia

Please get a whiteboard and frame it with pictures of you both write the day and date on the board and affirmations . This really helped my grandma sometimes I had to list names of people and birthdays when she was concerned

Just the fact that the first thing he says is "I love you" even tho he believed they had broken up, it makes me believe in true unconditional love. You may forget memories but you can’t forget feelings.
