Words make a more solid image in the brain. You set boundaries and allow the reader to develop their own interpretation within those boundaries. As a person creates that image or feelings for themselves it becomes connected to memories and is more valuable. Does kind of s_ck you can't Quick Drop mental pics, though. 😆

if I could just have a device that was attached to my head while I thought of all the wild cinematic moments and then have that device write everything out for me exactly as I would say it? writing would be quicker and I might actually get through editing faster

oh but don't you worry. You are showing us the cinematic scenes. The words are just the physical bridge between your mind realm and ours. And your filled mind fills ours with such beautiful things through words. Best thing about "just words" is how much detail it has compared to simply seeing it with the eyes. Also each person's interpretation. If you tell me the characters are in the most beautiful place they've ever witnessed the place will be different on each reader's mind. But I assure you, each reader will see the most beautiful place they could have ever imagined. That's the beauty in it. It's so certain and yet relative that everyone will indeed see it better through your words than somethingthe eyes xould see.
