I am from this area, still live there actually. My mother was 10 years old when this happened. And my papaw had a chicken farm and a small grocery store. . He delivered eggs and food to the people after the flood. Just so they could have something to eat.

As somebody FROM the town this happened, we are still affected by this. People alive for it have PTSD when it rains. And the victims never got justice.

Look into the school bus accident of Prestonsburg Ky feb 28, 1958. It was one of the worst bus accidents on record. Our city still doesn’t run buses when it rains to this day bc of that day. Tragic.

They could have saved a lot more people. The VP met with the residents and told them everything was ok and they could go home- right before it failed. A lot of the people who believed him died.

Ive lived my entire life in wv very close to Buffalo creek. you did a very good job of explaining the disaster to those that never knew. I've been to where those dams originally were many times working natural gas wells
