Sleeping with a 🔪 by your bed is another form of safety. Children that grew up in abusive or toxic households feel the need to “be prepared” because they were raised to stay alert or on there toes at all times. When they become adults and move into there own place they think about all the “what if’s” and think about escape routes in case something were in fact to happen. Adults that suffer from cptsd are always in fight or flight mode. That’s why some adults like sleeping with a 🔪 by there bed side cause it brings comfort and safety to said person. I sleep with 🔪 and stuffed animals in or by my bed. People that don’t have trauma also probably sleep with one by there bed to be safe too
