Fault of the Ops team. You never give the intern the possibility to delete the database. And an update should not cause the deletion of a database. Plus, you should do an automatic backup before updating, just in case.

probably not that worse but we wanted to update the database, we reverted to the previous snapshot that didn’t have new payments synced up 😭 whole night spent trying to get back the the data since we had a backup database but it didn’t contain as much data, we did update later to a new ubuntu version so I guess we succeeded with our plan? 😭🙏

My dad wasn't an intern, but did that. Thankfully he kept his job because he had been with the company for years and his boss protected him pointing out why the option to delete was even there when it would never be used

it happens. i wiped staging data on accident because i used staging db uri while running tests as there was a test that just wiped the database clean that i had no idea. it didnt just delete the records it made or check if it was on test env it dropped the whole table. luckily there were backups and it was just staging
