The saddest fact about ww1 is that the English,German and russian leaders were cousins and they wrote letters to each other that they wanted to stop the war but couldn't to national pride, militarism, alliance they couldn't just leave behind and the fear of looking weak 🥀🕊️

Also all of Europe was terrified of Russia becoming increasingly morr powerful, and they were clashing regularly with Austria over the balkan. How would you prevent that?

Ww1 was kind of inevitable tho, Europe was a powder keg and everyone one was itching to fight each other. If it wasn’t Franz Ferdinand, it would have been something else and we would have gotten the same domino effect of nations joining because of alliances.

I keep seeing people say stuff like, “If WW1 and WW2 never happened, the world would be peaceful and Europe would stay strong.” That’s totally wrong. Don’t get me wrong, like colonialism was already happening before the wars, but without those wars, no one would really know what Germany, the Soviet Union, Uk , Francs and other powers were doing behind the scenes. The wars exposed a lot of the truth about their brutal actions. Without them, the world might’ve stayed blind to all that, and colonialism probably would’ve continued much longer and europe controlling the whole planet

I have the impression that the history of the world wars is a Franco-German conflict. Basically, Prussia severely punished France in 1871, so French revanchism led to their entry into the war in 1914 and then in 1918, France won, severely punished Germany as in 1871, which led to the Second World War.

no way to stop it. every one was builder bigger and better armies and more advanced weaponry and wanted to test them. Germany already had thrn play to wheel troops through Belgium to Paris way before the war started
