I got athletes foot from it and that was the last time I got a pedicure from a salon and they used plastic in the basin too…. It lasted for months even with cream from the drugstore.

Internally, jetted, pedicure chairs are not a thing anymore. All the Jets now are magnets that stick to the inside of the bowl. You pull then off and take apart the 3 piece clean them. There’s no water that goes inside of the pedicure chair.

Yeah, that’s funny that you say that because I have one at home and when I cleaned it that is exactly what I would do. I would fill it up after I was done you know you empty it and then I would fill it up with cleaner and let the Jets run for a while and then I would pour that water out And now you’re telling me that that was the right way to clean it yeah and the nail salons don’t do that from what I’ve seen

You’re talking about whirlpool jets. Instructor here- most salons nowadays use non whirlpool pedicure chairs since it’s outdated due to that reason for being unsanitary. I’m surprised your school even had those chairs.

There are no better tubs… my pedi chair has no jets. It’s a liner and and has a small jet that you pull off, take apart wash and soak then use after sanitation. The dirty water goes down the drain only! The tub is then cleaned and a fresh liner used!

It really hurts my feelings when I see someone come to me and they have been going to those walk in places because of infection and fungus stories. Not to mention them actually experiencing the fungus problem. So frustrating!

What year are you doing NAils??? Every nail salon has liners now. The Jets are magnetic.. we soak our jets in disinfectant solution. Every salon has extra jet.. you, my dear, should invest in liners for your bowl..

There is unfortunately no way to truly get jetted tubs entirely clean, even after the entire sanitizing process you described. When I moved my salon I switched to comfy chairs with cute basins that have plastic liners and still scrub with antibacterial soap & spray them down with sanitizer for 10 minutes. No cooties 💅

Even if they use liners they still need to go through that whole process you mentioned. Unfortunately most salons don’t do that 😳

The first salon I worked in after beauty school I was scolded by my new coworkers for trying to properly disinfect the jetted tub. They wanted just to spritz the bowl with barber side, diluted with water and give it a quick wipe down. They were annoyed that I was “wasting” too much disinfectant.

I had pedicure one time in my life, back in 2014. I’ve always taken care of my own feet, and done my own nails. I ended up with a toenail fungus and having to have my nail removed a few months later, never going again😭

there is tubless jetted tubs too that are not as big and deep much faster to clean but yes takes about 15 mins
