This is a really raw post for me—literally and emotionally. I’ve struggled for years with dermatillomania, a skin-picking disorder that often affects my fingers and cuticles. It’s something I don’t always talk about, but it’s there… especially during times of stress or anxiety. Add in my thyroid condition, which makes my nails incredibly thin and brittle, and you’ve got a recipe for pain, embarrassment, and a whole lot of shame I’ve carried quietly. But this post isn’t about hiding anymore. It’s about healing, honesty, and reminding myself (and maybe someone else out there) that progress doesn’t have to be perfect. Getting my dip nails done isn’t just about looking pretty. It’s actually part of my self-care. It helps me protect my nails, reduces the urge to pick, and gives me a reason to pause and treat myself gently. So yeah, this is vulnerable.
