I'm pretty sure that it changed when the TVLand channel came out, and I love Lucy and all those shows were played on that network instead

it was originally shows and movies from the 50s to 70s. leave it to beaver, Donna Reed, my three sons, bewitched, Brady Bunch, Gilligans Island, I love Lucy etc. it was for old people. TV land is a spin off network.

GURL when was the last time you watched Nick at Night? When I was a kid they weren’t in black and white and I’m 30 years old.
Nick at Nite hasn’t really been Nick at Nite since like 1998, and TV Land hasn’t been TV Land since about 2002. The kids not having real Nick at Nite and real TV Land, and cable with all day weekend movies on TNT, TBS, and USA is part of the reason we have fully grown adults now who know zero about pop culture that happened prior to them being born. It’s also why the internet attacked Austin Butler for saying his favorite childhood movie was The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (a movie anyone his age would’ve seen numerous times on tv with their parents lol)… Folks need to get online and stream some old shows and movies immediately tbh

Nick at nite was for our parents and the shows they grew up on, and we're that age now so it's got the shows we grew up on. In a few more years it'll have Hanna Montana 🤣

Nick at Night changed its focus in the mid-2000s to a more contemporary station that had a lot of modern sitcoms as opposed to older, black and white ones that ran in the 90s.
Like George Lopez' show started airing on Nick at Night back in 2007 about a month or two before the actual show ended its run on ABC.
My mom used to watch Friends on Nick at Night - as well as Everybody Loves Raymond lol

Nick at nite is just friends until like 5 and then big bang theory and Im tired of it give me more shows!! Also nick at nite has always been the old sitcoms they change it often. When I was a kid it was Roseanne and full house and George Lopez and stuff. I do remember the airing of the black and white shows very vaguely. There used to be variety but nooooo friends is the entire nick at nite block. The show is like 31 years old now so it makes sense I just wish they’d play something else too

I watched Nick and Nite when it came out in the early 80’s. It showed shows that were from the 50’s, 60’s, and some 70’s. So, the 50’s were 30 years prior. And FRIENDS, sadly, was 30 year ago. So, it tracks. But I’m still waiting for the Decades streaming app, where you can pick a decade and watch shows and commercials from that era (alone, or in their original line-up). I think it would be fun and comforting for people to watch TV from a good time in their lives and may even help people who have dementia or depression. I know it’s pretty much impossible since certain shows are owned by certain networks, but it would be the greatest.

Can I be super controversial and say that Friends kind of is for old people atp? Young people still watch it, but they're watching it as a throwback / comfort show. The people who were teens and young adults watching Friends when it first came out are like 40-50 now. And I don't mean to say that's old, buuut it's also not young, yk?
