I’ve always been really good with finances, thanks to my mom. But I think, based on what I’ve tried to teach my kids, that schools should have a mandatory class that teaches about things like insurance, credit (car financing, student loans, mortgages, etc.), budgeting, rent vs purchase, etc. Even things like how to keep your car maintained (which used to be part of driver’s ed) or how to use the post office, pharmacy, etc. Parents are doing too much for their kids and they don’t know how to do things once they’re on their own.

I wish I had been taught about credit!!!! What affects it, how it works, how to build/maintain, how it affects me long term, how it affects interest rates and what to do to make it look as best as possible. If we learned all this we could start it right from the jump!
