Its a lack of third spaces, combined with pickleball’s accessibility, and the aging populus of America. Tennis isnt falling, pickleball is just growing way faster because the skill floor to have fun playing is lower.

I grew up playing tennis. It takes a good year of practice to be good enough at tennis to have fun. Usually multiple years. Pickleball takes like 10 minutes to have fun.

I think it can also be due to our lack of attention span at this point. I’ve never played pickleball but I’m assuming it’s much more simple and not as technical as tennis.

Tennis requires a lot more training to make it actually fun. Most people who learn to play tennis in any capacity are to some degree, wealthy. It’s like golf vs mini golf.
