I’m sorry, what in the world makes them think it’s the teachers job to acquire school supplies for other peoples children? I have had multiple teachers in my family as I was growing up and even back then it’s not as if they were rolling in money and they certainly aren’t now.

It is one thing to not be able to afford school supplies. It is another to refuse to buy them. I bought supplies for the class, but I also bought some that were only for my son.

Teachers do not make enough money and I’m with them. Cutting funding for a lot of schools especially with these new laws. They’re coming out with in Texas but like all over but I live in Texas. It is not that hard to buy the school supplies.

That's crazy af smh there are so many programs that will help provide school supplies. These are the same parents that'll never attend a PTA meeting nor participate in local government and voting in the right people that care for their children and teachers. People truly lack empathy for teachers. They treat teachers this way because they are happy to leave their kids at school so they can get a break. Teachers are not your childs second parent nor are they excuses to stop parenting and being supportive to your child. Supporting teachers is supporting your child. If you don't like that home school is an option

I dont mind buying school supplies, what i do question is all the cleaning supplies. 4 bottles of hand sanitizer, 2-3 cases of lysol whites ect. Does the school not provided the cleaners with the supplies they need ?

As a mother of five 1 preteen and 2 sets of twins I always buy all school supplies on the list🤷🏾♀️I just say gotd*mn when I see the total price before tapping my card 😂

Instead of the parents being upset at the teachers they should be upset at the government. Buying school supplies for YOUR OWN child IS their responsibility but having to buy enough for the whole class in this economy shouldn’t be the parents responsibility.

A lot of these parents that complain about shared school supplies would be mad if their kid came home saying they were left out an activity because they didn’t have enough/the correct supplies. I don’t understand what they don’t understand

I don't understand how school supplies being bought is so controversial. use ALL of my kids supplies, I don't care if I have to forego a timely bill if it means the kids have what they need. also, a lot of school supplies that used to be necessary have become obsolete with the move to electronic assignments. if you can buy yourself the latest phone and new clothes and everything else, you can buy pens and pencils and notebooks. I understand not everyone can afford new stuff or tissues etc, but the basics from the dollar store being too much is crazy 😥

these parents conveniently ignore that teachers: 1. have been supplying students with extra supplies for years 2. are severely underpaid 3. have their own children to buy for 4. buy extra supplies that aren't just used by the kids whose parents can't afford it, but by the complaining parents' own little darlings as well.

I get why parents are getting upset I spend my heart on money to buy my kids something and you're just going to give it away to another kid are you going to reimburse me for the items that I purchased and there's too many free back to school programs before school starts when I was in high school I used to go to about 4 or 5 of them just to make sure I had more than enough and if I had a friend that didn't have one I would give them one of the book bags I think when people are getting upset about is the fact that we spend our heart on money for our kids and you chose to have those kids so they should be your responsibility not another parent that is struggling to make sure their kid has what they need

I just don’t understand how people have 5+ kids and don’t think about the cost of school supplies. I have 2 kids, I’m not having more because I can’t afford more. In my opinion people just want babies, not children
