He’s heard the shaky voice I use when I talk about my past. The way I second-guess myself. The way I get quiet when I feel unworthy or not good enough. He knows I carry old scars. That I have trust issues. That I sometimes push people away just to see if they’ll stay. He’s seen me shut down. Seen me pick apart my body in the mirror. Seen me try to be “too much” just so I don’t feel like I’m not enough. And still… he stays. He doesn’t try to fix me. He just loves me through it. He’s patient when I overthink. Gentle when I break down. Reassuring when my self-esteem is low and my guard is high. He picks up where I miss.. With the kids. With the house. With my heart.
