Thank you! The judge just made it legal that consent videos “infer” consent 🙄. This was my worst fear of this case and it came true. Now men will be shoving cameras in girls’ faces after they assault them

This is very articulately said, Lauren. Thank you so much for speaking out on this. There is still so very much ignorance regarding this. It is soooo sad AND disheartening. Again, thank YOU.

Thank you for posting this! She probably wanted to protect herself from further harm by saying what they told her to say.

Not to mention, a “partner” can seem safe and then switch VERY quickly to being frightening and repulsive during at any point, and the idea that someone will be the same person throughout is simply not a given.

Thank you for speaking on this. I’m beyond disappointed in how the judge handled this- she held 0 space for trauma and how it impacts a victim. Did not account for coercion.

So well said! And the whole thing about her weighing 138 vs 120, it doesn’t even matter bc she is a small stature person compared to 5 atheletes!?

Thanks for posting this 🤍 My trial’s in February, and that verdict really shook me—it’s such a stark reminder of how broken and flawed the system is. I’ve been slowly making peace with the fact that it’s a legal system, not a justice system. It wasn’t built to protect survivors, no matter how much it should. I’ve also come to terms with the reality that my case might be used to set precedent or be referenced in case law, and that’s a heavy weight to carry. But honestly… in the off chance I do “win”, it feels worth it. We can’t stop fighting - we will one day see the change 🤍

No doesn't mean no, anything but an enthusiastic yes means no.

And AGHHH I am also so tired of explaining this to everyone as well. Tough space to hold for clinicians while trying to care for deeply misrepresented and misunderstood survivors.

Oh yes and saying “my truth” is another reason she found the victim to be lying. She said she didn’t say “the truth” 🙄

Finding it necessary to film her consenting after the fact tells me all I need to know. Who goes around filming their partners after sex to verify consent? They knew they assaulted this woman and would need this video as “evidence” it was consensual.
