I think Lando made those mistakes because he knew he needed to push to the absolute limit to catch Osc.

The post race simulations say that he wouldn’t have met the .5 seconds overtaking delta even if he made no mistakes just like Lewis and George last year so although that were 3 bad mistakes they only happened to him because of the battery problem

So the battery issue didnt cost him? The delayed pit strategy didn’t cost him? and the slow pit stop didn’t cost him? Yes he made 3 errors and maybe errors that other drivers wouldn’t make but he was pushing that car hard as hell to make up that time.

Lando made some mistakes on track, Oscar didn't, simple as that, IMO Oscar is the better and more consistent driver and will win the WDC this year!!

What cost Lando the race was basically the slow pit stop, after that he had to push to the limit to try and get close to the other McLaren. It’s irritating how Lando gets criticized for no reason

Well. What actually cost him was getting mugged in the pit stops and losing 7 seconds. The errors were small and inconsequential in comparison. They were also caused by the requirement to make up the pit stops deficit.

The errors were because he was pushing and trying his best, as it turned out the Medium tyre was up to the job which everyone, even Oscar doubted, Oscar was saying with 20 laps to go that he didn’t think they would last but he was still fast enough while conserving the tyres. This is all a result of the start with both cars battery being in a different state of charge. Oscar was just fortunate that he had more charge to get in front and then he had first option to pit. we literally watched oscar get stuck behind max for the entire sprint? catching up to the car in front and getting past it are two very different things, whoever was ahead after lap 1, bar no massive mistakes, was gonna win it unfortunately
