Disappointing to see professionals in a museum jump on the “it’s just mail” bandwagon, language evolves and adapts, and chain mail has been a term in use for more than 200 years. You can hang on to the “well technically its just mail” all you like, that doesn’t change the reality of the accepted and understood language that is actually used to talk about it in the real world. In fact as a museum you could even educate people on the history of it and have a fact sheet talking about the evolution of the language around it, rather than stubbornly hanging onto centuries past technicalities.
