A couple of years ago, my insurance wouldn't accept the generic brand of Subs. so they only accepted the name brand. Then about 6 months ago my psych nurse adjusted my meds ( I was on Xanax mg ER and Ativan ). So she took me off my Ativan, kept me on the Xanax but added. 5mg ( quantity 90 ). Then a couple of months ago, all of a sudden I needed a Prior Authorization for both of those meds. I went 5 days without my Xanax and ended up paying out of pocket for both. Then this month, they only needed a PA for the . 5mg Xanax. Had a appointment a week before all that and apparently the PA was accepted last month AFTER I paid for them. Good thing they are only $13 but still. And I've had issues with not getting my Subs for over a week, even after calling the provider and or the pharmacy. Which is a trigger for me, having to call either the provider and or the pharmacy multiple times. Be vigilant and advocate for yourself as much as you can. I don't know what insurance you have but call multiple times a day. As well as your Doctor's office, the doctors offices are usually the ones that are supposed to deal with Prior Authorizations. There's no way to pay out of pocket for Subs because they are so expensive. I wish you all the best ❤️

Tip: those messages go to the office and the front ladies have to forward the message to the Dr…I’d be calling the insurance company myself.. and high now let’s those ladies up front know u need a PA..tell the pharmacy you will pay cash for a few until this gets squared away

This is so sad n nc they usually do a prior authorization once every 12 months but I have been told that the prior authorizations are all done digitally. It’s just up to your doctor how fast they get it done in a lot of doctors take MAT med as a joke. It’s really sad. I’m so sorry. Hope they get your meds soon

Yeah this happened to me unfortunately the doctor has to approve it smfh see if maybe cvs can give you a few strips til you have it settled and it should only be a few dollars explain your situation to them they CAN DO IT I just did it last month cause I had an issue with my insurance

it's because you switched companies, they have to do it for new medications it's basically proving to the insurance why you need it

pay cash for a few till u get it authorized..and use a care credit to get the discount or some sort or a discount script card Walgreens has one on there app to show u the cheapest amount to pay cash out of pocket and yea Massachusetts will allow u to do so

Can CVS let you get a couple out until your PA is situated? I'm from Alabama and we have like Mom and Pop pharmacies here that will let you get a few out until PAs go through. Can you see if that is an option? I know how you feel. The beginning of this month I had the same issue due to the holiday

Start putting some back so u have extra for stuff like this. Most of the time they over prescribe anyway. You will be amazed at how little you actually need to stay out of withdrawal.

You can go to your nearest ER and tell them the situation and they might be able to dose you just that one time and then send you on your way. My sister in law had something like this happened and her doctors was closed cuz it was the weekend and they did it for her. We live in Indiana. I’m sorry you’re even having to deal with this. Hopefully everything gets figured out on Tuesday.
