While I support the rhetoric… no. LOTR boys are examples of non-toxic masculinity, not LGBTQ. Tolkien wrote a lot of himself and his friends in these characters. Straight men are allowed to cry and be affectionate with each other.

I just watched the movies for the first time (at my husband's insistance) recently. When Sam followed Frodo into the river even though he couldn't swim, I sobbed. I thought it was so romantic and sweet how much he loved Frodo. 🥺
