i cannot BELIEVE he is 50 now. his music, his sexuality, his eccentricity— the world wasn’t ready for him before. but he’s always been true to himself. inspired doesn’t cut it, i’m in awe of this man. and still, for all the grief and hardship he’s endured in life, his great familiarity with loss, he’s so gentle. i’m sure he’s imperfect, and has regrets, but his heart, his soul; he’s a true rarity. and his music, oh my god. so full of raw and beauty. i wish him all the contentment in the world. i wish him peace. what he so deserves. i hope this decade of his life will be kind to him, that he is fulfilled. the world is a more radiant, wondrous place with his music and himself in it. love this guy ❤️🩹

I remember sitting on the bus coming back from IMEA tryouts listening to this when I was 15, looking at all those Illinois cornfields. When I went off to college, I always made sure I was listening to this album when I crossed state lines back into Illinois. Thank you Sufjan ❤️
