Most so called “ex Muslims” were never truly practicing Muslims but just born into Islam or curious about becoming a Muslim and had one foot in and one foot out. Being born into a religion doesn’t make you that religion when you aren’t even intellectually mature enough to make the decision to be or not to be a follower of the religion. If you asked most so called “ex Muslims” basic questions about Islam they wouldn’t even be able to answer you.

Calling something ‘different roles’ doesn’t fix the power imbalance. If one role comes with more freedom, legal power, and voice - it’s not just ‘different,’ it’s unequal. If these roles were reversed — if men had to obey, cover, bring two witnesses, and ask permission — would we still be justifying it as ‘balance’?

Also, this critique isn’t specifically catered towards Islam but most/all religions but I’ll use the Quran to prove my point. Why does believing in the unseen (something that can not be theoretically be proven but is solely believed based off of faith) determine somebody’s eternity? No matter how you put it, it completely contradicts the nature of an all loving, all just being.

I’m a Christian but I’ve always respected Islam as a religion. I feel like most criticisms I’ve seen of Islam is always about certain countries or cultures but never the religion itself. I’ve read the Quran but I still feel I have more learning to do. But I feel it’s a beautiful religion and if I wasn’t Christian I would certainly be Muslim, Islam is a very logical religion and similar to Christianity in a lot of ways.

i’m an ex muslim and I love your content! the reason I personally left isn’t necessarily bc of what the Qur’an itself said, it’s the idea of God itself which comes with most religions there are. I’d love to believe in God, I really would but it just doesn’t make sense to me. That’s why I love when people explain their religions!
