@etherealainur: Part 2 - One of the reasons The Two Towers is my favourite of the trilogy is the pure dark fantasy vibe it gives off. The Fellowship of the Ring is a lighter, more spontaneous introduction, with a touch of something dark that grows quietly. And although The Return of the King is also quite dark, The Two Towers stands out. The film's colour palette is very different from the other two: everything is dark and monotonous. Another thing I noticed is how death is constantly portrayed here. There's the memory of Faramir seeing Boromir dead, the scene of several dead Rohirrim fighting orcs (which is in the edit), Théodred, who also fight and died, Aragorn, who fell and almost died, Haldir and other elves who died in the Helm's Deep, as well as other men. Of course, we can't forget the corpses in that bizarre swamp. So, adding all these factors to the aesthetics of the film, we can see how much it stands out for being dark and cold compared to the others. #thetwotowers #lordoftherings
