I NEED to chemically exfoliate. I use mandelic acid.. if I don’t peel (my skin still flakes at times) - then I get texture and dullness on my skin. I am genuinely curious why some people think tretinoin is an “exfoliant”. I mean sure it gets stuff out of your pores as it increases turnover but it doesn’t do anything to scrub the layer of dead skin off your face.

It increases ur liver enzymes and I’m afraid it has damaging affects on the liver in the long term due to the the extreme high levels of liver enzymes

Lesson learned the hard way. I’ve been building up my tretinoin frequency of use for for months consistently. And tried to use it everyday, on the fourth day, my skin was burning as if I’ll get a heart attack due to pain. It took me onew week to repair my skin barrier. Every two days use is what’s fine with me.

I can only use tret 3x cause no matter what I do it’s drying. But then I use my retinal 2x a week. Is that still good to get results one day? The other two night I use chemical exfoliants. I did try tret exclusively at night but could never built up to more than 3 nights

Ok but what about alternating night so you can use other products? Like AHAs and BHAs? I thought you couldn’t use tretinoin with another active ingredient?

Any tips for teen daughters on tret? She’s 13 and on .025, her acne is actually worse now. She’s been on it for a couple of months and uses it every third day. 🙏
