Watch the movie again and deleted scenes and it shows you how Ben is really insecure about how he’s seen. Whether people really like him for who he is or just because he’s the famous rock guy. Its pretty considerate and not something we usually see with Ben

that's another thing, they didn't explore ben insecurities and tragic nature like how he's supposed to be, but then again it is years later so maybe he moved on from it, i still wanted to see that so i can relate more to him

love your content but i dont think you exactly understood his character yes he was very focused on yes he seems pretty shallow but the moments we get with him shows a lot at least to me specifically the one scene of him looking in the store window and just staring at himself shows me at oeast that he does long for who he used to be is he not used as well or as sad as he is in the comics or 2005 movie yes but i still do think they showed that longing and almost wishing to be back to normal very well without making the film feel to crowded

I like how first steps allowed the thing to be happy. Even in the main comics the thing himself is one in a million of a sea of heroes and his “I’m a monster” doesn’t even truly apply to him nowadays. Bro has a wife and kids

He was sad about it in First Steps it just wasn't the focus of the movie. It's more subtle but you do see it with how he beats himself up about what he said to the teacher he liked. Ben doesn't have to be the focus of every Fantastic Four film. I liked how they had him just being a good guy living his life, sure he's self conscious that the teacher doesn't like him because of how he looks but generally he's happy rn. Ben isn't constantly depressed, he has good days and bad days. The movie kinda just focused on one of his good days entertaining kids and feeling useful to his team and excited about being an uncle. The Thing is a complex character which means he doesn't ALWAYS have to be an emotional wreck on the brink of ending it because of his powers. Someday he feels good picking up a car and showing a group of children he's strong. Honestly made me smile seeing him have a bit of fun, especially with Johnny.
