I went with Ubuntu then pop os then Linux mint then arch. after 1 year I went back to Linux mint.

I have been using custom os on all my devices for almost 5 years in my opinion the only way to confirm or know if a custom os is safe is if it's open source, and you know how to look into it. If you want to use a custom os, I suggest AtlasOS and ReviOS, but I wouldn't recommend putting your whole trust in it, it's best to create your own custom os if you want to guarantee safety

Only problem I faced was that sometimes when I started my laptop up the keyboard would stick and I couldn't input my password so I had to restart it just for the keyboard to work again

Попробуйте Flibustier, из всех сборок она самая стабильная, никаких вылетов и лагов, единственное это надо замудрится с драйверами, да и то, можно скачать Driver Booster или пиратку и все закачать, а сетевые драйверы правда иногда не подтягиваются и нужно устанавливать с оффлайна SDI, а просто быстрющая ине нуждающаяся в оптимизации сборка
