Industrial cleaners/ disinfectants tend to have a TON of wax inside it that you don’t notice until 2-3 decades later when they get scrubbed professionally and you literally notice the color change back to the original color.

I have an uncanny ability to not make noise when walking, even on floors like that. (Gotta be quiet as a kid or parents have something for you to do) It's like a built in stealth mode. But imagine being used to everyone sounding like that, then you see a 6 foot guy in the hallway with long hair making zero noise who's primary choice of clothing color is black.

Anti-slip hospital aproved floors are not designed to be compatible with your foam and rubber shoe soles. That's probably a special sort of PVC or Linoleum. And you know Your shoe soles are made out of similar oil based product so it's gonna squeak.

Hospitals are quiet? What? I work at a hospital; they ain't quiet and they don't let people sleep. Okay, maybe in the baby departments they let you sleep, but any other department- nope. The floors squeak because the cleaners we use suck.

It's the shoes! I never made a sound in hospitals until I had to start wearing my "special" shoes because uncontrolled diabetes did a number on my feet. You can now hear me coming from halfway across the unit.
