I feel the same way. I’m not trying to claim that im better than anyone or anything like that, but with general storytelling as a whole; ignorance genuinely is bliss. It’s easier to consume when you aren’t subconsciously picking apart each element.

I feel this. I will say, after my pretentious stage (thank you literature professors), I’m learning to read for enjoyment again! However, if the book has no redeeming qualities, I get where you’re coming from. My favorite class was from a guy in his late 50s who taught FANTASY LITERATURE as a credible class for credits. We exchanged emails and discuss books for over a year now!!!

My first foray into online web fiction was wattpad fanfics back in covid. And oh man when I tell you that even some popular webnovels are written like wattpad fics, that’s saying something. Lots of flat narration, lots of jumps, no linguistic authenticity/diversity in character speech, and so on.
