Fang Yuan understands this: when one sees that all things ultimately return to the same place — to emptiness and insignificance — there is no need to cling too tightly to anything, nor to hate too deeply. Nothing is truly superior, and nothing is truly inferior. Everything is the same. The differences perceived are nothing but hollow values conjured by human ignorance. And so, a person like Fang Yuan moves through the world unburdened. He can kill without hesitation, save without compassion. He can face defeat without despair, and embrace victory without intoxication. For he knows — everything is but a part of an inevitable, inescapable current, and the only path to true freedom is to sever all ties to the illusion of difference. While others desperately chase what they consider good and flee from what they deem bad, Fang Yuan remains calm. He regards all things with the same eyes, a heart unmoved, a mind unshackled. This is the deepest wisdom: when one can perceive that nothing in this world is truly different from anything else.
