I don’t think that’s the issue. I think the real issue is the elite versus the working class

Our community only wants to see blacks in poverty. Anything that doesn’t center poverty is seen as not being black.

Unfortunately some of us have been taught to only respect the “struggle”.

Agreed! You know, we often say that Black people aren’t a monolith to other groups of people. It’s time to start listening and internalizing that amongst ourselves. Just because your experience isn’t the same as someone else’s doesn’t mean it’s not a black experience.

Based on these videos, it seems as if black excellence hates us!

I’m not disagreeing w/u but just thought—maybe it’s the elitism that angers ppl? Classist elitism w/in an already (racially) excluded group might be a reason why ppl are often against capitalistic success? although the anger is poorly placed (towards ppl playing in the system rather than those who create it)—but maybe they uphold it the system? Idk..

Don’t forget to include that some folks don’t think Blk people should enjoy a soft life, a quiet life, a relaxing life, a sitting on the front porch sipping tea life, a boating life! Some Blk folks measure Blk wealth by YT supremacy standards. It’s time for the shift😎🔥

Exactly!! It feels like some of us are only ok with us winning if we’re rapping, in the league, or being an entertainer

I was shocked and sad to see the negative discourse. The 20min film depicts a rich history of black families building generational wealth, success, safety and a positive space for their families/friends… these are all good things everyone should celebrate

Apparently we can only be celebrated if we are a rapper or singer cause no one cries when an athlete endorses a sneaker.

The goal is for every generation to do better than the last. It’s wild that ppl are mad that folks are accomplishing that and some have been doing it for multiple generations. It’s so weird.

As a Laotian-Mexican mixed and lil bit of fashion/style aficionado I also think the new Ralph Lauren collection is brilliant, timeless and elegant as well - as it should be. So it’s a definitely a masterpiece to be witnessed for sure☺️
