Agreed! You know, we often say that Black people aren’t a monolith to other groups of people. It’s time to start listening and internalizing that amongst ourselves. Just because your experience isn’t the same as someone else’s doesn’t mean it’s not a black experience.

I’m not disagreeing w/u but just thought—maybe it’s the elitism that angers ppl? Classist elitism w/in an already (racially) excluded group might be a reason why ppl are often against capitalistic success? although the anger is poorly placed (towards ppl playing in the system rather than those who create it)—but maybe they uphold it the system? Idk..

I was shocked and sad to see the negative discourse. The 20min film depicts a rich history of black families building generational wealth, success, safety and a positive space for their families/friends… these are all good things everyone should celebrate
