Why are you planning on using a liner, use breeze blocks and waterproof an render it, then decorate the top with your logs. To conseal it to future proof it, you can remove the logs at any point without having to empty it for any potential repairs.

Mine was the same, one side full of Yorkshire stone. I ended up layering over it about 5 times with the underlay. Oh, and get a retro 👍

hay if I was you dont have a retro drain have a concrete floor a bottom drain 4 inch pipe build it up with blocks i did this dig out liner u have problems in time look me up u see my pond

I would go around it as best as possible with a straight edge hand shovel then I would probably damp the walls if they're not already damp and use a mallet and some bored and tamper it and that will help compress the walls tighter as well
