When working at a gas station on the side of I-5 this man would come in (kind of rough looking man) and he had a very heavy accent and said he was from Jamaica. I being innocent and just a nice person told him how cool I thought it was and hope to be able to go someday. Well that opened a door to him apparently and he started stalking me, he would come in and tell me he’s gonna take me to Jamaica constantly and laugh about it. I was able to quite a couple months later but I always think about how he would disappear for awhile and then come back and tell me he just came back from Jamaica and he’s going to take me soon.

Where I'm from in NorCal, it's a super frequent road for trafficking rings because highway 36(which I live off of, and is connected to I-5 through Chico(highway 32) and Redding(highway 36/89) goes right to Reno. We got a lot of PSAs when I was still in the school around my area because of how many traffick rings come through here, especially through Redding. The last one we got was around May because some 14 year old got found in Quincy because she managed to run off. It's insane, but we're too small and poor to do much about it other than keep our town's kids from being trafficked too.

Most people are trafficked by someone they know, such as a romantic partner, friend, or family member. There are several anti trafficking agencies in that area, they’re always looking for volunteers. As someone who works for an anti trafficking agency, it’s very frustrating to hear people say, “why aren’t we talking about this” and “why isn’t anybody doing anything?!” I promise you, there are many organizations that are speaking out about this every day, people just don’t care to hear it.

The I-5 corridor is the most trafficked area in the nation. My sister in 2009 from a very tiny town called Richfield WA. They had her in a strip club within 24hrs. Shared Hope International based in Vancouver WA was part of rescuing her before she was sold. She went all over high schools for YEARS telling her story, and teaching the FBI. I worked with shared hope for a decade volunteer. They don’t focus on rescue anymore because they are so unsuccessful. Best course is education and prevention.

I’m born n raised in Sacramento & it’s real real bad. They just don’t publicize how often children and adults go missing. I stay on my toes. You have to legit be aware. I don’t trust any MF & I don’t let strangers near me or my mini.

Yep, there's warnings all the time for women with children shopping, getting gas. Its so scary. We are always on high alert.

I was trafficked at the Roseville Galleria when I had just turned 18, i was by myself and was approached by 2 people and they befriended me then took me to a house where I was drooged and was transported to vellejo CA and was being trafficked until law enforcement found me. Be careful it can happen so easily and is very scary

Selling Southern California :
I used to drive the 5 from Southern California to Northern California to visit my parents near Roseville. It should be well known to never pull over if someone motions you like it’s an emergency. I have had that happen and you have to ignore them and act like you don’t see them. They will move on. It’s scary! Can report LP but CHP can’t technically do anything

I-5 is notorious for it. I stopped at a gas station near Coalinga and there was a sign in the bathroom with a number to call if you are being trafficked

Don’t go to Sam’s club in Yuba city alone!! Insane how many are in the parking lot just waiting. I had three surround my car and and my three kids..were lucky I’m mean and loud. Watch your surroundings getting in and out always. They pretended to be on their phones until they were almost bumping elbows with me right on my car.
