“The United States has long supported Taiwan’s independence.” Umm, no. No it hasn’t. The United States has very explicitly and very consistently NOT supported Taiwan’s independence for decades. The US adheres to the One China policy and supports the status quo. If you can’t get these basic facts right I’m not sure how useful it is making TikToks about these issues.

The US made an agreement with China during the Nixon and Carter administrations and even at that time the US Congress agreed with everything on those agreements. Plus the official name of Taiwan is Republic of China and there is only one China not 2 and even the UN recognizes Taiwan as part of China this means all countries in the UN recognize it. And people need to have in mind that Chiang Kai-shek is the responsible for the thirty-something years of the white terror and was sponsored and a bff with the US and he is the responsible for all this confusion until today
