There are many things wrong with this ad: 1. It references an old commercial of Calvin Clain with a teenage actress (15 y/o), that recently has spoken about how uncomfortable she felt from the sexu4liz4tion she had to go through and the image the ad gave her. 2. The fact that the commercial is supposed to be for women but it is done through the male gaze, so making women think that they need to be like Seedney Sweeny in order to be attractive, instead of trying to be beautiful for themselves. 3. The easily spotted idea that a woman with blonde hair, fair skin, blue eyes and slim body is the perfect woman, not just making women feel the need to reach this standard, but also making them feel inferior for the genetics, aka, a woman with dark skin and non-conventional beauty does not have "great genes" for the ad. These are all things that you can spot easily, cause the ad looks weird by starters, you don't even have to think much about it. But a lot of people seem to ignore it maybe.

I swear I feel like no one realizes that an ad isn’t just one dude going “lmao this funny let’s make this”. It has to be suggested, approved, they need to find the right person to do the ad, they also need to read what it is and agree - no one on that team read that and went “wait a minute maybe this isn’t quirky, certainly with what’s going on right now” they ALL knew what they were doing.
