The fact they didn’t name Betelgeuse’s companion star Lydia is a missed opportunity .

would the supernova vaporize the star or eject it?

The issue is, when these two collide, it could be devastating to planet earth!

Ok, this may be a Mandela effect thing, but I thought It was known for some time that Betelgeuse was a binary? Weird.

OK serious question. we are seeing it on earth as it was 600 something years ago. if we are looking at it through a telescope, shouldn't they know when it explodes before we see it here on earth? also if it has already exploded say 300 years ago, would they not be able to see that through the telescopes even though it still looks whole here

Is the companion star being drained by Betelgeuse, and is this why it will go super nova?

If there was a planet in the Goldilocks zone of Betelgeuse and some humans could get there tomorrow, would we still explore that planet or would it be too risky with the chance it could go supernova any moment?

Hasn’t Betelgeuse gone supernova already and the light from it has not reached Earth yet?
