The early church fathers all warned against this sort of thing. There is not one person recorded that wrote and recommended veneration of icons before the 5th century.

orthodoxy is the truth gng, im personally oriental orthodox but we are similar to eastern orthodox with worship and veneration, our difference is the doctrine that we have and what they have, me personally i dont call Paisios a saint, but a holy monk, thats just me tho.
