A lot of f-18 pilots in the comments. The last crash in the spanish air force was due to an eagle and one month ago a eurofighter of the spanish airforce crashed with a seagull and broke the plane,s canopy. That is not a failed maneuver is trying to avoid what has happened twice in less than a year.

Bird actually went in the intake and interrupted their thrust causing him to have to try and recover the aircraft abruptly mid maneuver. The pilot and the crowd were all extremely lucky. That could have ended very badly.

As a certified aviation expert. The pilot obviously sat on his right nut, which caused him abort a roll that he didn't have the altitude for in the first place. My qualifications? I have seen both top guns, all of the iron eagles and most of growling sidwinders videos. Not trying to flex or anything.

He tried doing an aileron roll (360° turn) but messed it up. Even in regular planes, it's hard to see birds. These ones were white, and with the speed he was going, he probably didn’t even notice them. Definitely looks like a failed roll.

It looks like a failed manoeuvre attempt, the pilot wouldn’t try to avoid a flock of birds in front of a massive crowd. If there were actually birds the pilot would just take the birds, he’s got the airspeed and the chances of loosing both engines are slim.
