As a Latino seeing the add was weird. I guess American Eagle is for white people. It instantly made me feel excluded. The add is so wrong. It promotes white supremacy. It’s so bad.

If you’re not uncomfortable by this add. You need to seriously self reflect. I’m white and this was sooo disturbing to me. It’s so sad. It’s clearly so racist. And so objectifying to women. The entire add is belittling to people of color. And women!

Did I miss something? The ad didn’t mention her hair, eyes, or skin. Good jeans (genes) could refer to a miriad of things, not just skin, hair, eyes. Ex height, health,and intellect. Even further everyone has their own definition of what good genes are, and I feel they left it open to interpretation. Just offering a different perspective bc it seems you made an assumption. It’s a cute double entendre imo

Having white skin was an adaptation to living in regions that didn’t get very much sunlight. If you had lots of melanin, you would be vitamin D deficient. The ad never says her jeans are better than other people’s jeans because she’s white blonde hair blue eyes. It just says she has great jeans because she’s objectively attractive.

I still don’t see an issue with the ad. Blondes with blue eyes are allowed to be in commercials…. Was it objectifying? Yes, but calling it a “promotion of eugenics” is insane.
