I'm not religious myself but I was raised catholic and the way the american gar right interprets christianity absolutely drives me up the wall. How can people go to church on sunday and then cheer on the ICE raids?

we should go back to our old US tax code. where anyone who made over around 3million in today's money was taxed over 90%. it worked so well until Reagan changed it to benefit the rich

I believe that the core of what Jesus was trying to say here was basically if you are given wealth, you should be willing to share that wealth to help others with that wealth , if you accumulate wealth, but there are too many people that don’t use their wealth to help, which is unfortunate

The word in koine was hell. I was Hades. The entire passage in Luke might be seen as a Greco-Roman style of argument that amounts to, “even if the Greco-Roman view is correct, you are destined to find yourself on the wrong side of side of history.” Obviously, they wouldn’t have said it this way, but it is one way of seeing this passage. My undergrad was in philosophy and I learned classical Greek.

thats funny, because when the us economy was at its best we hat earnings past 200k taxed around 90%, yeah? I dont need wealth, a reasonable level of comfort and existing without unnecessary financial stress would be great!
